The Most Honourable Member

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSKj4r5k4go]On this, what looks like the final of this 40th Parliament, it's only proper that we pay tribute to that one person who had to step to the fore to protect perhaps the greatest political institution in the land - Speaker Peter Milliken. He's retiring after this session and there's lot of worry out there if we can find a replacement of his character, humour and knowledge to keep Parliament itself from abuse.  A special thank you, Peter, from all of us for making this fight to a more decent place worth it and for your tireless service to this country. It's no wonder that you retire as the longest-serving Speaker in Canadian history. You carried the torch well, with grace, dignity, and, at the end, with defiance.
