Citizenship - Making the Greater Decisions

Let me introduce you to Kai Nagata, if you don't know him already. I was pointed in his direction by my friend Jodi Simpson, who has taken to calling Kai her "new hero." It's easy to see why. At 24 years of age, he's made some pretty major decisions in his young life that actually reflect well on this series on citizenship and his own life regarding personal growth and sacrifice.Up until recently Kai was the CTV Quebec City Bureau Chief - a large responsibility for someone so young. Obviously he must be pretty talented. But read his words and you can discern a deeper understand of life and his commitment to his country through his writings. It's pretty impressive. He has a way of cutting through shallow nature of his former industry and demonstrates an ability to question without being overly critical or ideological. He's just a guy trying to make his way as a citizen and he has come up against some pretty strong temptations to just conform. Not all of us can change the direction of our lives so dramatically as he, but his talent for questioning the status quo and why we do the things we do is pretty amazing. I hope he writes a lot more because citizenship for all of us will require a lot more thought, objectivity, personal courage and desire for personal growth.  Thanks Jodi.http://kainagata.com/2011/07/08/why-i-quit-my-job/
