Campaign Insider - "Youth and Romeo Dallaire"
When Romeo Dallaire calls you naturally get the phone right away. "Glen, this election has been devoid of any real discussion about Canada's international role in a changing world. Do you agree?" I concurred. "I wish there was some way you and I could work together to raise the level of this campaign," he added. To my delight, this wonderful man offered to cancel his New York trip to come to London to have exactly that kind of dialogue. When I said I didn't want it to be any kind of political rally, but a fulsome discussion on the role youth can play in shaping our world, he merely responded, "Perfect."And so down he came, forgoing an important international session in New York City to speak to a number of high school students at Mother Teresa Secondary School in London. He was terrific. In the video below, he talks about how even the votes of one class can change an election - fascinating stuff. If you're a student and you want to ensure you get a government that reaches out to embrace its international responsibilities, watch this video.http://youtu.be/wv_DvkNWM7c
