Global Darfur Campaigners to Hold Press Conference During Event Today

OTTAWA, ONTARIO-- On Monday, September 17th, Students Taking Action Now:
Darfur (STAND) Canada will rally together with students, politicians, and the
greater community for the fourth Day for Darfur, an international event
bringing attention to the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.
After the rally, a
press conference will take place from 1:15-1:45pm in LS-130, Centre Block,
House of Commons. Speakers will run as follows: MPs Glen Pearson, Borys
Wrzesnewskyj, Paul Dewar, and Bakri Abdalla, representing the Darfuri
Association of Canada, and Yoni Levitan, Executive Director of STAND Canada.
Each will speak for two minutes, followed by a chance for questions by the
media.
In addition, Irwin Cotler, MP and human rights lawyer, has been
confirmed to speak alongside others such as Alex Neve, Secretary General of
Amnesty International Canada, and Tragi Mustafa, Sudanese refugee and human
rights activist.
The first three Global Day for Darfur events
attracted tens of thousands of supporters from around the world to events
